Conclusion: A Look to the Future

The IMPAC Steering Committee and all participants are committed to fostering the growth and maturity of this significant project. Among the goals for the 2002-2003 project year are these:

  • To continue vigorous participation in the IMPAC process.
  • To participate in the new CAN process as it evolves.
  • To develop a process by which CAN descriptors can be reviewed on an annual basis by IMPAC faculty.
  • To sponsor regional articulation meetings among community college faculty.
  • To encourage networking among colleges throughout the state to strengthen ties between programs.

Recommendations that carry over from last year's report are:

  • To continue to increase participation by UC and CSU discipline faculty.
  • To ensure continuity of project leadership while still promoting new facultys' leadership and energy.
  • To identify modes of more effective communication with key campus leadership (deans, department chairs).
  • To submit additional CAN descriptors.
  • To continue to promote IMPAC's direction, achievement, and goals through presentations to organizations, government and administrative groups.
