Dear Deans/Chairs/Directors
and faculty,
The first IMPAC meeting for 2005-2006 is Saturday, November
19 at the LAX Sheraton Gateway Hotel
from 10am-4pm. The meeting will be among
the nursing programs in the Southern California
region. I would appreciate it very much if
you would share this information with your
nursing faculty and select one faculty member
to attend the meeting. The northern California
regional meeting is Saturday, January
21, at the SFO Westin Hotel from
10am-4pm. The final statewide meeting will
be held Saturday, May 6th at
the LAX Radisson Hotel from 10am-4pm. The
meeting reports can be found here.
All expenses will be reimbursed through the
IMPAC grant for one member from each nursing
program. The reimbursement form will be distributed
at the regional and statewide meetings. Airplane,
car and hotel expenses will be paid. Breakfast
and lunch will be provided at the meetings.
This is
the last year of the IMPAC grant and the
Intersegmental Council of Academic Senates
(ICAS) will prepare a report for the Chancellors/President
of the CCC, CSU and UC systems that will
include recommendations for the future of
IMPAC. It is very important that all nursing
programs from the CCC, CSU and UC system
attend the regional meetings and the final
meeting May 6, 2006 at the LAX Radisson Hotel.
The IMPAC Nursing Committee has demonstrated
significant progress towards articulation
and transfer for nursing students among and
between the CCC and CSU systems. It will
be important to determine if the nursing
faculty believe it is necessary to continue
the intersegmental dialogues on an ongoing
basis after the grant expires at the end
of this academic year. The reports from the
3C-NAC committee and the CSU Lower Division
Transfer Program (LDTP) Committee will be
reviewed and outcomes discussed to determine
what issues related to articulation and transfer
still need to be resolved. The IMPAC Nursing
Discipline 2006 report will be forwarded
to ICAS to be included in their report along
with their recommendations for future intersegmental
faculty dialogues. It is essential that the
IMPAC Nursing Discipline report reflects
the views of all CCC and CSU nursing programs.
I hope that you will be able to send a faculty
representative to the regional and statewide
meetings this year. I look forward to working
closely with all of you this year.
Best regards,
Louise Timmer, Ed.D. R.N.
