Hello
everyone,
I find it very hard to believe that the 2005
Academic Year is well upon us. We are more
than 1/3 through our quarter and I know for
many of you, you are at least half way through
the fall semester.
IMPAC is moving forward this year with increased
emphasis on communication among all levels
and encouragement of the development of transfer
patterns. Last year, we saw success with the
dissemination of the Nutrition Letter to counselors
and students, with the hopes that the information
will be used with community college students
to smooth their progress through the colleges
and universities in nutrition and dietetics.
We need to determine how to market the pattern
recommended in the letter to be sure the information
is available to all counselors. We revised
CAN descriptors for the foods and nutrition
classes and may want to look at Food Science
this year. These will be used somehow in the
Lower Division Transfer Pattern. We just don't
know how quite yet.
Dates for your calendar include:
November 19 at the LAX Sheraton for the Southern
Region
January 21 at the SFO Westin for the Northern
Region
May 6 for the Statewide meeting. Since that
is the same weekend as the
California Dietetic Association Meeting in
San Diego, we are negotiating to hold the IMPAC
meeting in conjunction with CDA.
If you have not registered for the first two
meetings, please do so as soon as possible
at the IMPAC website, http://www.cal-impac.org/.
As always, the communication, building of bridges
and sharing of ideas that occurs, is really
a benefit to our students.
Hope to see you.
