Attendees: Barry Pasternack - CSU Fullerton, Sam Gill - CSU San Francisco, Jerry Cellilo - Foothill Community College, Constance Conner - Community College of San Francisco, Gerlinde Brady - Cabrillo Community College, Dennie Von Tessel - Gavilan Community College, Don Cordero - Mission College

A brief meeting was held of instructors in Information Systems to discuss the proposed CAN descriptors for Introduction to Programming, C++, C#, JAVA, and VB.NET. It was suggested that the JAVA descriptor should be modified to include the following object oriented programming concepts to parallel the descriptor for VB.NET -

  • Object-Oriented Programming
  • Inheritance
  • Base Classes and Derived Classes
  • Constructors and Destructors

It was also suggested that the VB.NET descriptor should be modified to delete the following topics:

  • Database Processing with ADO.NET
  • SQL
  • Dataset
  • DataGrid
  • Web-Based Applications with ASP .NET
  • Server-side controls
